So I swing down to Piemonte Chevrolet this afternoon to see my buddy Keith (he's the finance manager) to see if he can hook me up with another extended warranty on my truck. Driveshaft has a nasty "clunk" to it, the A/C compressor is crapping out, and the front end has a NASTY growl to it if I drive it in Auto-4wd for more than 30 miles or so. The warranty is just about up - need to get it extended so I can have all that crap fixed.

Never made it to the service dept. :)

Wound up coming home with a pewter silver 2002 Silverado Z71 extended cab. With 0 down, 2.9% financing, Keith's deal he hooked me up with ;) the payment is barely higher than what I was paying on my 99. Plus I got a 75k warranty, free loaners, and the "new car smell." Ya baby :)

Seriously tho - Keith is a GREAT guy. He rides an RC51, he's my neighbor, known him for years. If anybody is looking for a good hookup on a new Chevy - go see him.

I'm gonna go drive my new toy... I'll update the sig later :)

LOL... well Dave, I'm not THAT bad ;)

Funny thing is... my dad pointed out to me back when I bought my Z06 that I get a new car every year. When I sold the Z06 and bought my 99 Z71, I figured "ok, this truck will break my streak..."

Nope... not even a year with my 99... and I buy a new one. I wonder what I'm gonna buy next year...... maybe a diesel... :)

I wish I could get to that point! Having no car payments would be SWEEEET. But I can't seem to go more than 12 months without wanting something new....

I've managed 24 months, but the 0% financing on ALL Chevys is making it tough.;)

By the way, which Z06 did you have and how did you like it?

No kidding. American automakers are keeping what's left of the economy going. Bummer is, at 5 years old, my car isn't exactly 'trade in' material. I'd be better off selling it outright, but that's too much of a hassle.

Right now I plan on paying the cage off and going with NO car payments for a year or two at least to save some money. Last time I got screwed because I didn't have a down payment. Ouch! Oh, and I want to save enough cash for a Speed Four and turn my SV into track killing machine it has the potential to be.

Laterz!

I had a black/black '01. Bought it in December of 2000, paid WAY too much for it (over sticker thanks to "dealer market adjustment") but that didn't matter at the time, I HAD to have it. I absolutely LOVED that car. VERY smooth power, very comfortable. A fantastic touring car - I could drive that car all day and not get sore. The Active Handling was awesome too.

And FAST. That car had some serious power. I went 12.42 @ 113.96 at GLD in it, BONE stock. I added my own intake (now sold through Nasty Performace), long-tube headers, and a custom X-pipe (now also sold through NP) and went 12.29 @ 117.74 at US41, in 95 degree heat. There is no doubt in my mind that on a cool night at GLD, that car would've gone 11.90s in the 119 range.

For the price, you can't beat it. Nothing else out there can come close to the Z06 (or standard C5 for that matter) for $50k. And I think the C5-chassis is probably the best car GM has ever made... 14k miles later, still no squeaks, rattles, car still felt tight (unusual for a GM product.) And since the '02s came out, nobody wants an '01... so the market has REALLY dropped out on them. (Which I think is retarded, the '02s have 20 more hp, and HUD, big deal.) You can find used '01s in the mid-30s now... my buddy Brad just sold his MINT yellow one, with 6k miles on it, for $36k. Now that's an absolute steal, IMO.

I was thinking the same too.:(

Then I came to my senses.:laughing :laughing :laughing

Unless it has the Holden badge on the front and right hand drive, there is no way I'll ever own a post 72 GM product anymore.
