well...knowing a few of the "asshole cops" as you call it.......just like anything else in life, there are quit a few asshole riders around (hopefully none are members of this board) that tend to sterotype the rest of us. They hate giving out tickets to us (Many of them ride sportbikes too yaknow!!!!) but Naperville has had many many many many many many many complaints from yuppie citizens with nottin better to do but compalin and stick their nose where it don't belong. Hence they must crack down on the minor infractions to keep the asshole out.

Now up here where all the ******** are...we don't care about nuttin.....are biggest complaint is when they cancell jerry springer to put on a CUBS game on WGN!!!!:jester

Wow, i apparently hit a soft spot on this one. I too know several cops around the chicagoland area. All of which are doing their jobs!!!! What humors me is that all of my COP friends stereotype Naperville Cops as "assholes". I just move here therefore I have no justification for complaint. I was simply elaborating on another persons response. I apologize if this has offended you.

And I don't know what you are talking about, I have never seen anyone do anything supid on a SportBike!:laughing

I ain't saying anyone deserves to get any tickets anywhere..... I agree that they are a little to ticket happy in Naperville, I'm just trying to shed some light as to why.

Now can we please go back to cop bashing.........Hey I too was written up in Naperville years ago, for amking a left turn on red. Turns out the cop wrote me a ticket and then proceeded to tell me the good places to ride where I could have a little fun where there are rarely any cops. HMMMMMMMM

Land of the Free?

The skinny of all of this is that being a cop can be a shitty job. They see some negative shit! I also have to admit that it is ignorant to bash someone for doing their job. That was my bad. No one likes to be stereotyped. There is just as many cool cops out there as there are shitty ones. Somehow I always get caught by the shitty ones. Unlike some other guys that get pulled over by supermodels!:laughing

On a side note. The wonderful people of Naperville are begining to enforce the NO AFTERMARKET EXHAUST law that this wonderful state has. Apparently, they are putting warnings on all motorcycles with non-stock exhausts explaining that they will be ticketed in the down-town area of Naperville.

This law applies to all vehicles but they are only going to target motorcyles. A lot of harley guys rev there engines creating a hellatious sound but it is apparently bothering the neighbors!

Anyone got any thoughts on this?

I can't see the ticket for the exhaust itself, becouse that is legal (unless it is an off-road pipe) But rather for the dB level of the exhaust note. What are they going to do if some kid decided to hollow out the stock can? Is that going to be considered legal as it is the factory can, but just modified to make more noise?

it is illegal to alter the emission control device in ANY way, that includes the pipe, weather slip on of full exhaust. you can have the quietest pipe but if it ain't stock it ain't legal. But I agree that I think n'ville will be craking down on loud pipes though. However if it's parked, I have no idea how they will distinquish between a loud pipe and a quiet one? That is where i think they will fall back onto the illegal exhaust mod law.

I agree it sucks, I have NEVER heard of anyone getting a ticket for illegal emisiion control device, but have known people (sportbikes and Harleys) that have gotten one for ridiculously loud pipes.
