Well I had fun going for a ride and hanging out at Starbucks for a while. On the way home I'm stopped at a light and let out the clutch and start hearing this screaching noise. I pull in the clutch and it stops.

So I'm thinking I'm only a couple of miles from home. I turn the corner and after about a 1/4 of a mile it gets worse. So I'm going slow trying to figure out WTF is going on and if the motor is suddenly going to lock up on me and some guy in a van is riding my ass instead of going around.

So I pull into the next drive and am trying to figure out what I should do with this loud metal-on-metal screeching sound. Next thing I know the bike rolls forward a bit and the kickstand folds and the bike starts to fall. I tried to stop it but it had already gotten to far over and I wasn't positioned right. I broke the fall but the left side panel still got all scratched up and the mirror folded and put a small dent in the tank. I also suffered some minor strains trying to stop the damn thing.

So, I compose myself and manage to pick the damn thing up but the left side panel is scuffed and the stator cover has a big scrape in it.:mad

So now I'm thinking I damn stranded and going to have to push the thing the rest of the way home. My back right hip and left arm are all sore from trying to stop it from falling. Shit, Shit, Shit.

Well I managed to get it home and when I pulled in the damn noise had completely stopped!:mad

I called Elton and had him come and get it. I'm thinking a bolt in the lock-up clutch worked loose and was rubbing the inside of the cover. He seemed to also think it was the clutch and that he could have it fixed tomorrow if it's what he thinks.

However, now I've got scratched panels on both sides and I'm seeing dollar signs with wings. The panels are not cracked so I'm thinking I should see if I can get them painted instead of replaced. I'm also thinking of replacing the damaged stator cover. It's not leaking oil or cracked, but its got a ground chunk and may not withstand another drop.

Damn, sometime this is an expensive hobby!:mad

The dent in the tank is not that noticeable and I'm wondering if Dentbusters could get it out, more money.

This sucks!:mad :mad

I think I'm going to go soak in some hot water to see if I can relax the muscles in my back and leg! I wonder if one of the springs on the lockup clutch broke or came loose. Hopefully I'll know tomorrow. Elton didn't think it was that big a deal but getting distracted and dropping the damn thing again is going to cost $$$.:mad :mad

Man I hate it when I do dumb shit!

isnt this like the 3rd time you have had bad luck with that bike?
i think its time to get ride of it, maybe its got a curse on it?

anyway glad your ok.

maybe i can do something with the panels?
i gotta look at it, or jim and 4&6 also has a guy painting bikes with a dead on match.
i would rather see him paint them in the correct environment to get a great job done

Hmmm! Well it's fell over twice and the waste gate blew off once but that got fixed for free.

It'll be interesting to see what the problem is.

I gotta quit dropping that sucker!

Anyway, I'm thinking it would be cheaper to have it painted. The panels are like $500 each. I was thinking about having 4&6 do some work anyway so if they've got a paint guy I might do that. If you think you could do it we can talk about that too.

Dave, was that after I left you two on Eola rd?

I thought I heard some funky noise comming from your bike too, but I figured it had something to do with your turbo. Good luck hope its something minor.

I didn't really notice it then. There is a vibration in the radiator or turbo somewhere that I haven't figured out how to stop yet. I wonder if that's what you heard.

Maybe you just noticed something before I did. Guess I'll know soon enough.

Sorry Dave. Hope you feel better.

If you go to Dentbusters ask for Mike the manager. He's a friend of mine and one of the best in the biz IMO. He likes bikes and I'm sure he'll take care of you.

Is that the one in Naperville?

Well, I got the bike back and the problem is exactly what I expected. A bolt in the pressure plate worked its way out and made contact with the cover. Not that big a deal. It fell out before it could wear a hole in the cover.

The oil got changed and the oil pan can clutch covers cleaned out to get the metal pieces out. Hopefully no metal worked its way into the clutch plates. I'm putting on an adjustable kickstand to increase the lean angle and replacing the stator cover with a billet one.

Now I just have to figure out how to fix the panels and whether the small tank ding can be pulled/pushed back out.

All minor stuff. I'm a little sore from trying to hold it from falling over but nothing seems pulled, just sore. At least I slowed the fall and was able to pick it back up. Nothing major as long as no metal shavings got where they shouldn't.

Dave, I have a kickstand from a GSXR1100 that I modified to fit my Busa when it was lowered. Let me know if you want it. I seem to remember the adjustable ones being expensive. Especially when it's easy to swap them.

Yep that's the one he works at. If you want to kiss some butt a little tell him you saw pictures of his 442. That car I put on a while back is his too. Him and my dad do the car resto's together.;)

Thanks but I already picked up a replacement. You're right, they're not cheap!

Sorry to hear Dave.....

The worse part of this is.... you know it's going to fall... and you try soooo hard to stop it, and when you don't, you blame yourself even more.

lol... yes... twice to me too.
