All I can say is :cheers :cheers :cheers To those who missed it...you MISSED OUT!!!

What a F$#&^ ing AWESOME day. The weather was perfect, only one clipon touched down all day and good times were had by all.

I had an absolute blast in several sessions with all you guys. Most fun was had going 2-3 wide through turns with Phozed/JimGoSlow&Jeff....that was SWEET and I have some of it on video(thanks to my brothers buddy). I was also happy to improve on my lap times a bit. Kudos for everyone for riding fast safely, I had only one ohh shit moment and it was self induced thank you. I was also impressed at how quick the Grattan 1st timers got up to speed!!:thumbsup :thumbsup GOOD JOB!

BIG THANKS to Phozed for setting this up!:thumbsup You DA Man...

:cheers :cheers :cheers

Steve, great job setting this up. Absolutely perfect weather.

I borrowed Doc's lap timer and had a great time trying new lines and clicking off some fast laps. I went through two full tanks of gas totalling 202 miles!!!:D I still have a grin on my face, but I'm sore as all hell.

I had a couple near highsides powering over the little stream of water in turn 1. I also hit a false neutral a couple times downshifting and had to coast through a couple turns, before punching it back into gear.

Mark, just find another 20HP for the hawk and we can really have fun playing tag. I'm really curious to see how fast I can turn laps at BHF now. :helmet

Guys....what can I say but :D

Grattan is incredible....a never ending rolling coaster of a track. The easiest turn there is like the hardest turn anywhere else. I can't imagine a layout being more technical than Grattan; you can't rest for a second.

I'm glad my first trackday back since the crash was crashless. I was definitelty holding back. I know the turns I need to work on where I can quickly shave at least a few good seconds. Next time out I'm hoping to break 1:42. Best time so far was 1:48.

Uphill to #2 I was going way too slow anticipating the bumps on the inside of #2....After lunch I was a little better in turning in later to avoid the bumps.

#3 is still crazy....I DO NOT LIKE BLIND, DOWNHILL OFF CAMBER TURNS! By the end of the day I was just rolling over the edge and dropping it in OK....but I was still going 15mph tops through there.

The S's were pretty easy for me and I actually liked the hairpin.

I did have a problem running up the hill after the hairpin into that blind right-hander. I couldn't open it up completely until I actually saw the turn.

I do have some mpeg footage of most of you from the morning...as soon as I figure out how to post it...I will.

Thanks to Steve for a great trackday

:thumbsup

hell yeah

I'm really glad everyone had a great time! The preparation was a little bit of work but the event kinda ran itself once we got started. It was really weird when I saw Allen go down in 2 and then noticed that the cornerworker was sleeping and there was no yellow!! :Q Pulled right in and told the head corner worker, and fortunately it was a very slow speed drop and he rode it off the track. It was the only handlebar that touched the ground all day! :cheers;

I was really impressed on how quick you guys picked up that track! LOL there were some scared looking faces walking around after that first session, but damn you guys wicked it up BIG time by lunch, big kudos to all!

Big thanks to Bruce for providing the porn :laughing and moving the bikes. Also - thanks to Mark and Bruce for the help in the morning!

Everyone who offered more money THANK YOU! Was very nice and I was really impressed to see how many of you guys were concerned - you wouldn't know it from looking at them but there are some really classy people on this board!! :cheers :laughing

I have no idea what the leak from my radiator was... pulled in after some laps and parked the bike. When I was getting ready to go out again I noticed a small pool of coolant underneath the bike - looked and the bottom row of the radiator looked a little wet. Removed the plastic, topped off the reservoir, and tried to get the bike to leak again with no success. Didn't leak again - I dunno but I wish I did...

I've decided this is the way to go if you're going to do a lot of trackdays... thanks to everyone who showed up and made this event safe and a blast! I'm going to look into more tracks and dates, stay tuned :)

When i went out on my first session i came back in after 5 laps, to compose myself, told the wife this is a intense track, went back out and tried to memorize the track then started getting the speed up. this kinda track day kicks ass for you can mix it up with others in the turn good race practice imo, plus lots more track time. had a ball dicing it up with jeff, mark, alan and ken. That last session Jeff, ken and I where no more then a bike length a part the whole session that was fun.
Good job steve.thanks again!

Some of you guys were definitely deer in the headlights. I figure take off about 8 - 10 seconds and that's the comparable BHF laptime.

I kind of expected more run-offs. You guys really kept yourselves in check all day.

This was my 3rd time out there this year. I might go for one more in October. It would be a great way to finish off the season.

I hope 8-10sec is about right...if I could do a 1:25 at BHF I'd be very pleased!

And everyone did do a great job of keeping it safe. I think the best compliment I heard was from the George brothers (fast guys riding the SV's); these guys both ride and race often at Grattan and both were telling me how happy they were that the groups average pace was pretty quick and everyone was riding really safe they were quite amazed when I told them that almost half our guys hadn't ridden the track before.

PS- Cherry if you wanna play tag it would be 5000% cheaper for you to just pull a plugwire:twofinger

Actually I could just limit myself to 7000 RPM. That limit me to under 70HP. Hmmm... sounds liek a neat challenge.

Hey Boys:

Just got back into town and am getting caught up. Man am I fried.

I just wanted to mirror most of what was already said. F-ing great time, great guys (No gals out on the track this time :( , but it allowed me to run the DVD for Ken's benefit. :laughing ), no one got hurt, and my current favorite track. What more can I say other than... Steve, udaman! IMO, as long as we can keep it like this, the effort is worth it. What do you say about keeping the numbers down at this level and planning on renting it out 3-4 times next year? See you tomorrow.
