haha, that's what i was thinking. if I read you right you want tv in your office. sounds like your best bet is one of the new wireless units. place the transmitter unit on a direcTV box and put the wireless TV-reciever in your office.

No, I'd be happy with regular and or cable TV channels. I have no clue about these things so I was just asking if there is anything out there that is wireless, or do I have to have a cable/antenna attached to it?

You have to get a signal to the unit SOMEHOW. I suppose you could buy a USB version and hook up an old fashioned VHF antenna... but I would suspect people would start to talk about you around the office.

you'll need a cable of some variety to get the TV signal(cable, off air, etc.) to the tuner card.

No, I don't want to do that. I want to watch live TV and would prefer a USB version. I guess I'll need to run cables to my office, which by the way is in my home. I didn't want to spend a bunch of money on a new TV that I would rarely watch, so I thought this may be a cheaper alternative since my laptop has a 17" screen. I've seen the Hauppage (sp) ones going for about $70-$90.

 

You setup a MediaCenter PC, then use Orb or something similar to broadcast it via the internet. Then you could if you wanted to even watch it from anywhere you have an Internet connection.

Oh and the Tuner card would then go in the Mediacenter computer, and would connect directly to your DirectTV receiver, and control it to change channels.
