for real...i know we all wanted to be a few things and then we got more mature and hopefully some of us reatched them. but as long as we enjoy what were doing i say its all good.

i think i REALLY wanted to be cop...but when i meet my wife she didnt want me doing that, so i blew it off...but i gotta say i think i am lucky..i LOVE what i do and it still interst me all the time. and the money is decent.

but MAN there sometimes when i see STUPID ass people doing shit in cars with kids i wish i could pull the fuckers over and take them off the streets.

oh well, but now that i am where i am at age...NO ONE tells me what to do...not even my wife no more...cause now its what i wanna do and how i do it as long as i balance it out in our lives, no matter what it is.

what about you guys?

I had my eye on joining the airforce and becoming a fighter pilot...but no 20/20 vision. After that, I had my eye on being a cop also, but I cant run worth a shit, and all the suburbs/state/etc. want you to be a jock. My only option was Chicago, but I held no grand illusions of cleaning up or protecting that city, it is and always be a shithole...plus no $$ for the work nixxed that idea. So I basically did the gearhead thing right after highschool working on cars. Eventually my Dad said if you go to school here....I'll pay for it, so I thought, heck, I wouldnt mind learning how that stuff works, so I got a BS in EET....and after wandering in a couple of electronics fields, I am the gainfully employed slacker at the Phoney Company I am today. Good thing that there is no downsizing a public utility, great job security and $$, so I'm happy...what a story.

Now that I am 32 I have pretty much everything I want materially and financially, so I guess my big game plan whatever that was payed off. The only thing lacking in my life is of a personal nature, it is a hard one to solve for me due to my history, but at least the big "what do you want to make of yourself Johnny" question worked out for me.

Well as a typical kid I am sure I wanted to be just about anything. Baseball, basketball, cop, firefighter you name it. Getting older and a bit more practical, I set my sights on Persuing my basketball career while getting my education thru college. That worked out well. Set my sights following college on running a manufacturing facility. And yep another goal acheived. Now I am playing with this sportbike thrill seeking. So far so good.

lol you guys crack me up...i suck ass as a rider..dont let anyone tell ya less.

andy you talking about true love?...if so , i hear ya man...shes out there somewhere, sometimes it takes a life time to find. thankfully i found my soul mate.

about the cop thing...i dont want to go into it to deep but i know what ya mean, what i can tell ya is a cop 90% of the time doesnt do it for the money. FOR me the way i am now, even if i didnt have a few pennys and needed a GOOD income job, being a cop would serve my main purpose (in this time of my life) thrill seaking, the DANGER and RISK of it all. after all isnt that mostly a bikers hidden mentality. (not meaning being an idiot on a bike , but more so the freedom of balancing danger and saftey)

anyway, yeah that was another REALLY big thing for me...i wanted to fly jets, but my personality doesnt mix with being told what to do...i am to much of an independent person, better off doing navy seal shit or black ops. but whos to say i cant do stuff like that now:evil . guess i am just a junkie when it comes to being an adrenaline addict.

I wanted to be a US Marshall. I graduated from college and applied, but was rejected due to age and lack of experience. I also tried to join US Customs, but never got a reply. I applied for Sherriffs dept back home, and got a call from them 4 months after I moved up here. I didnt want to move back home after getting situated up here. Oh Well.

Who the heck wants to "grow up"?! Ick!!

From the age of 13, all I wanted was to be a Chicago cop. I lived and breathed in the shadow of the CPD until I was almost 21... then I got married and he didn't want his wife out playing "cops 'n robbers" all night long. Right after my divorce I had a nasty "adventure in motoring" that pretty much nixed any chance of getting hired by ANY PD; by the time that got taken care of, I looked around at all my friends who had been 'on the job' for 10, 15 or 20 years and saw how it had changed them. Decided it wasn't that important to me any more.

I wanted to be a burden on society. And there are many who say I've never grown up.
But this is a serious thread so I won't disrespect it.
Also wanted to be a fighter pilot, but the vision thing fucked me too. Actually thought about teaching when I was in high school, where else can you get summers off? I've always been a gear head, so summers off to go racing seemed like a plan. Things didn't work that way. Worked for a few years as a dealership auto mechanic ( was the first one in the shop to be ASE certified Master tech). Tried working for a couple different parts manufacturers as a sales rep. Brake parts and filters. That wasn't right for me either. Went to work for a previous customer running his automotive machine shop. The guy was far from honest. I didn't like being a part of that shit, and at some point thought he would fuck someone so bad that they would come in and blow everyones' shit away. AMF!
I opened my own machine shop 16 years ago and here I am today. If I didn't need to make a living I could do this for free....NO SHIT. How many people can say that? I guess that means this is what I'm meant to do. Because of being here and knowing who I know, I actually got the chance to work as a crew member of an NHRA pro fuel(nitro methane) funny car crew, part time for a couple of years. I actually built the engine and heads for the fastest pass the car ever made. [email protected] You can tell by the time & mph, that this was a while ago.
So I'm lucky enough to have a job that I like coming to every day.

For me it was sound engineering, both live and studio. The ultimate would be a top-notch live-recording venue that could serve both purposes. I love live sound work and have been told by many musicians I respect highly that I'm good at it.

Somewhere along the line I got tired of the drama and was absolutely certain I didn't want to live from a suitcase and being drunk in hotels or tour buses.

Heck, who knows, maybe I'll still do that someday, but it takes some time and some bucks and the sense to develop a music market.

On a more personal note things really haven't gone as I'd hoped. I let a couple of good women go by because the timing wasn't right and got burned myself a few times. At this point I pretty successful, depending on your definition, and pretty set in my ways. I'm tired of people trying to change me but perhaps one day I'll click with someone who likes who I am already and doesn't need a daddy or babysitter.

In the meantime, I do what I enjoy, try not to be too reclusive, and get to know a variety of interesting people.

Don't be too surprised if you see my name as producer on some music in the future!

3 things I dreamed of doing when I was a kid.

First thing. F-111 Fighter/Bomber Pilot. One thing kept me out. Glasses.

Second thing was, get this. A CHP officer.:laughing The 3 yr wait for the police science classes at the local college kinda threw that for a loop.

Last thing Professional Auto Racer. Actually got to do it for almost 2 yrs before I walked away from it after watching a very close friend die in a racing crash.:(

heres a bit more on me, maybe most you guys think i am some crazy nut case with an ugly face and i am just icthing to kick someones ass at a moments notice, YES while true i wouldnt mind doing stuff like that, BUT i rather have fun and HELP people what ever it might be and as long as i can be happy while i am doing it.

then again ive done things when i wasnt happy to do, but i was still doing it for all mighty dollar.

most people i see that look me in the eye, rather look away at times maybe because i look mean? i dunno. i DONT try to look mean, i DONT try to act tuff, infact i do try to be a mellow person and come off as such, i think most of the poeple on here thats been around a while and weve road and hung out at some place in time can tell that.

i am just like any other guy around here, i wanna have fun, and non of us like to take shit, and will defend ourselfs.

I too wanted to be a pilot...even applied to the Aif Force Academy. Unfortunatlely you pretty much had to be a straight A student, with a kick ass ACT/SAT score, and an all state athlete. I had two out of three. On top of that my vision was good just not perfect. I'll still get my license in the next couple years.

Then I decided it would either be an architect or trader. The architect route started to get a little dull when I found out that I wouldn't be be designing skyscrapers.

What I do now is real close to my other choice, actually a little better as I have a handful of traders working for me.

It sounds stupid like every kids dream, but I wanted to play baseball. I blew that chance in College. I was pretty good in High School, played Varsity as a Sophmore and always had the best batting average in the Private School league. Colleges were knocking on more door to play for them. Unfortunately, every school I went to visit told me if I went there on scholarship and played ball I could count on at least 5 years to complete College. I didn't want that so I went to a small private College and never played ball again. I was pre-law in College and it wasn't till an investment course I knew I wanted to change my goals so instead of changing my major and taking another year to graduate I finished and looked for an entry level job in the investment industry. I actually took a job as a runner on the trading floor of the Options exchange to get my foot in the door. I didn't want to trade on the floor(too stressfull), but I always said if I got the chance to trade stock behind a desk I would do it. So after some operations jobs with stock options and foreign currency a guy I knew who was the head trader at an investment management company said they had an opening to trade behind a desk but I have to interview with the Portfolio Managers and Analyst. I did and got hired and here I am. I love what I do. I still wish the baseball thing worked out, but if you think about it everything else would be different too. I wouldn't have met my wife cause I would be traveling so much and I would'nt have time to settle down and make friends so I'd be riding by myself for the most part. Anyway I'm happy.:D

BTW: Ken, never thought you looked mean.:confused I think because the first time I met you, you came out and were working on everyones bikes before the ride. Oh yeah... and it helped when you could of left me in that ditch and you didn't:D
