Wonder what their revenue model was.
They had planned to sell home wireless service. With Comcast building out their hybrid fiber-coax network, AT&T moving along with FTTC UVerse, the pricing model per Mb wasn't there anymore. Also, it amazingly turns out that brick walls (the majority of structures in Chicago are brick) don't pass 2.4GHz very well, meaning that a strong signal in the street doesn't necessairly mean it will work in the house.

BTW: It was never intended to be free internet service, only low-cost.
