3 is the left handed right. its def a corner and a fun one at that. and your right, if your going fast enough 2 and 2a blend together.
Huh... a left handed right. There were 0 turns at Putnam. the first left turn is turn 4. There is no 2A.... 3 is the kink after 2. You should be almost WOT exiting 2 and make big arc into 4. You basically treat turn 2 and 3 like 1 big turn that is a increasing radius. The trick is ot be able to smoothly brake while you transition the bike entering 4... keeping iot inside the tar strip thne going WOT on the exit.

Damn that was a sweet track.... I'm getting a hard-on just typing this.:D

If I lower the final drive ratio with a 15T, I could use 4th gear through turns 1-5 up to the bus stop. Especially if I can get another 5 or 6 HP with some tuning and more corner speed wiht a fork job and bigger set of balls to go with them.
i used 4th for turn 1 but needed a quick down shift for 2-5, i am going to take gearing more seriously next year, shit i dont even know what sprockets im running right now.

Putnam sure was fun. Enjoyed meeting everybody Friday night and playing tag with Cherry on Saturday. Sunday was even better. Got the bike dialed in and a warm track surface for some fast laps. Also, Jim got moved up so there more guys to play with. Now that the season is over, we'll have to see who can drink. Tequila is the weapon of choice here. :-

ummm there is no braking for turn 4 maybe a quick step of the gas to help transition the bike for the left but no braking. infact there really is only one place you need brakes at that track and its turn 7

Dude, you need ot use the gas more.:evil

If you can take turn 4 at nearly 100 mph.... I'm really impressed, because that's how fast I was entering it before I trailed the btakes and scrubbed of some speed before the apex. Same thing wiht comming inot turn 8. I grab 3rd gear an need to slow down from about 90 mph. I'm flying up to turn 9 at nearly 100mph too.

I'm guessing you're corner speed was the same if not faster, but I noticed that how I was making up ground on you. I was cvharging harder into the turns and getting on the gas harder at the exit. That's how you ride a 600... you don't get to use the torque of a 750 as a crutch.:twofinger

Too bad I had tire problems and you always pulled off just as I reeled you in. We would of really had some fun.

No more fucking with Michelins. The H2's stuck great until they came apart, but I'm going to try 208's next year.

I would love to do a open track day there. It's not a very physically or mentally demanding track. I felt like I could stay out there for at least 30 minutes at a time.

you probably did carry more corner speed then i did, i only had 3 sessions in advance and never really had open track before then to carry more speed into the corners. i did notice once in advance i was carying way more corner speed then earlier but being the new guy i figured i would work on making sure my lines where smooth and predictable and getting off the bike more so no one would bitch about me being a hazzard. I acomplished alot of goals this past weekend, getting of the bike more and getting the knees down, carying more speed into the corners, and being very consistent.
by the way put some tape over your speedo you will go faster if you quit looking at it!!!:twofinger

Yeah, I drink. Just not heavily the night before I have to get up and make decisions at 145 mph. :laughing
Hell, nowadays, I get a 2 day hangover from a slice of rum cake. :rolleyes But if I can lay around all the next day and watch football games, I can still throw a few back. ;)

Those damn big HP bikes right....:twofinger:evil

Don't count out all Michelins, remember that the H2 isn't even thier real race rubber(its the long-life "trackday" compound). Comparing the H2 to a 208GP isn't really fair. A more apples to apples would be to compare what most serious racers run (S2 front/M2 rear) with the 208GP's.

And Michelin slicks rock, and also seem to last significantly longer than the DOT race tires. I'm gonna stick with Michelin slicks, they're legal for my racing classes and the bike feels oh-so-good!

yep was fun to watch. saw ya come around the corner b4 the front straight with jim in front for about 4 seconds. then by by jim. was looking forward to the trash talkin aftwerwards.:D

And Cherry, ok your right i dont know my numbers. 4 if the left "correct":p it was 3 where I panicked. eitherway, 3 is not much more than a bump and I was able to make 1 corner out of 2 and 3 a couple times.

Mark,

I'm sure the M2's and S2's are great tires... when it's hot out or you have a tire warmer. I don;t so, I'm going ot try 208's next.

Man I have a big old pile of half used tires right now. Guess I won;t be needing tires for street duty any time soon.:D

????:confused???

What do tire warmers have to do with it???? If anything the Michelins(and Metzlers) offer more versatility across weather conditions, softer compounds are availible and are recommended for colder temps....

The michelin rep I spoke to advised AGAINST the H2 rear tire unless temps were very high and advised me to NEVER run a H2 front on the racetrack.... Don't let the bad experience scare you away from some good tires. OTOH- I also really liked the 208GP's

Thanks, Champ. I've got all winter to give Jim some heat. Especially if we get together and I outdrink him...:laughing :laughing

That not what I experienced:confused But it might explain the very bad cold tear I was experiencing. I wish I had a digital camera.

yeah Jims not only part of Team Stuffin, he's the president.

glad you guys had a blast and congrats on the bumps all! I was out early Saturday and I kept thinking about you guys and hoped the cold wasn't ruining the day, glad to hear everyone had fun and stayed safe!

Wish I could have made it - is there any other event there next year that not in the late fall?
