The only thing I can think of is static disharge. But that is highly unlikly on a bike. I would make sure the problem is gone. before you setle on that fixing the problem. You might need to take it back in while its still under warrenty. I really dont think its the ECU causing this problem.

they are waiting on the part from suzuki so I dont have it back yet to test. I wonder of any of this stems from my 600 mile service. I took it to Lombard Suzuki for that service and they "remapped my ECU 2% richer on the bottom end, for free". Yeah, what a bargain, something I didnt ask for and a 600 mile service cost that twice as much as what others paid elsewhere. I wonder if this remapping they did had a long term effect that took a while to surface?

That shouldnt have made tooo muc of a difference although any map you now upload to your PC3 will Be 2% ricjer on the bottom end. So you should have had the ECM "zero'd out"

agreed, I thought of that. I called Lombard Suzuki and discussed this with the service manager when I purchased the PC. He assured me that it would be fine since they added fuel down low in an area that the maps provided by Dynojet does not. Well I'm sure it will be "zero'd" out when I get the new computer in the bike.

An FI bike only cares about throttle position and RPM. If they added 2% with the little Yosh box on the bottom, that's at low throttle positions, not low RPM's.

You could be screaming at 10,500 RPM's at the apex of a corner. Then you crack the throttle just a bit...that's what they are adjusting, in addition to crusing around town at 4500 RPM's and you roll on just a bit to go up a slight incline.

The real problems I saw with my Suzuki and others that were raced:

Cam chain tensioners were terrible. If it got really bad, the motors popped. But you could hear clatter. If the chain tension was bad enough, the cam and crank got out of whack just enough that the ECM shut the thing off. If you're gonna keep the bike for a period of time, get a manual cam chain tensioner.

My cam position sensor went out. Hard to diagnose, as the dealer has to have the failure happening with them. Took a long time for them to "decide" that was the problem.

Usually, the bike will store info on the problem if there is one. There is a little plug under the seat that you can jump. If there is a code, it will give you the numbers.

Has the bike ever flashed "FI" on the dash?

Thanks for the info break down. The bike has NEVER flashed "FI" on the dash, I am under the impression that is more of an issue with the '01 models. As far as the manual CCT do you know where I can get one and how hard the install/adjustment is? I do have the service manual but this might be out of my range of abilities.

It's not bad. Depends upon how brave you feel, I guess. You take out the tensioner, install the new one, and make it pretty snug. Yeah, it's a bit arbitrary. There is an oil line that comes from the front of the motor that goes to the stock tensioner. You'll need to put a flange bolt in there, or you can have an oily mess.

I think I got my tensioner from Moon's Super Cycle here in Milwaukee.

You'll need to pull the tank, and then remove the bank of the FI. It's not bad if you're reasonably familiar with the bike, the then again, the Suzuki isn't too bad to work on.

I know the origianl suzuki tensioners were Ga'bage, but the new ones really dont seem to be that bad. I dont know if it's worth the extra hassle of adjustment to go to the manual. Plus if you get lazy and dont adjust it once you will kill the motor.

Most of the guys I know that race Busa's had gone to manuals when Zook was having all the problems with them. but once the final generation came out many of them went back to them.

The shop still isnt sure what is wrong with the bike. Several things have been checked so far. We should have a pool on what the problem could be. I wouldnt participate since I knwo what is not the problem at this point. This is an interesting one though. I'm pretty sure it will be done by the time I get back from my vacation, probably earlier but I obviously cant pick it up till I get back.
