Ok people I understand they are not the SAME bike :laughing

But for me I think they are comparable as far as my riding so i wouldn't own both...

is that ok now?!?! :lmao:

LOL Poor Cheyenne. I know what you mean. Many people say the same thing until they ride them. Looks are on the same dynamic, but ride can't be any different. Still, the idea of VFR being my tourer is an option #3. I think my new options will be:

1)Get a new 1300 and be done
2)Get the Goldwing and lose the VTX
3)Get a replica and bag up the VFR

I vote for #2. I don't like cruisers. I have ridden the VTX1300 a few times in the mountains and I wasn't a big fan. I felt like Ponch from CHIPS on it.

No doubt you've got a great stable of bikes but I would opt for less overlap between stable-mates.

That said, perhaps take the ST check and buy the Wing, but trade the VFR.

You've already got a true sport bike in the RC. The wing will be the best big mileage eater for long trips. The VTX gives you a cruiser for when you're in that mode & you've got dual sport covered.

To me the VFR is a SPORT touring bike, the ST a sport tourer & the wing a sport TOURING machine. Do you really do enough sport touring to put them all to use?

Dude....DuPage has a 2007 CBR1000RR with the fender eliminator, Two Brothers exhaust and windscreen for the same price that I bought my CBR600 for....go for the sport bike! Just messin...you'll definitely have to wait to see how your recovery goes! I switched from a 70 to a 60 on my front tire and I can totally feel the difference in my wrists!!! Ouch! You'll make the right decision. Good to see you back posting on the board!

Well, after looking and thinking about options, I am leaning toward #2 or #3. Although I LOVE the ST, having the ST, VTX, and VFR, there is a lot of "cruising" there. While the VFR is a "sport tourer" it really leans heavily on the sport. For cross-country trips, however, I don't see it being comparible to the ST or Goldwing. While the VTX is actually a decent cross country bike, it's not the same.

So, depending on how I want to ride overall, #2 or 3 will be where I head. If I go with the Goldwing and get rid of the VTX, I'll have my long distance and short distances covered. If I get a replica instead of the Goldwing, I'll keep the VTX and use the replica for the sport riding (non track) the VFR for medium distance stuff (300-500 miles or so - with bags) and use the VTX for cruising/long trips as needed.

Let's see how it goes :)

Ok, so some more thinking and wondering what my riding style will be for the next couple of years. I am going to keep the VFR and one DRZ. I will trade in the other DRZ and the VTX for another ST1300 and load it down with stuff. So I'll still have a fun downtown bike (DRZ), tourer (ST1300), street bike (VFR), Track bike (RC51). Seeing as how the VTX and ST were build for the same type of purpose (cruising/long trips), I figured I only need one of those and the Goldwing is still a bit too much (and yes I did have one previously).

So that's where I am headed there.
The only addition that I have wanted for a while was a "standard" bike. I want something that gives me a different kind of ride. While the DRZ is a good "around-the-town" bike (minus good highway capability), I was thinking of getting a standard bike for a daily commute type bike that has more of an upright stance to it. If I do that, I am thinking B-King or something similar. I want to drive one first, but a bike like that seems to be right up my alley.

I still feel the VFR and ST are different enough to own both. The only real change is getting rid of the VTX and one DRZ for a standard bike of some sort...

Until my next idea change, that's where I am headed.

I have not been very active around here lately, busy with work and my transition out of the Navy. I like your final idea Paul. Think you had too much over lap going on and well all the bikes are new, don't really see the point in all the new bikes, now if you were collecting something old it would be a different story,

but then again in 30 years all those will be old.......
