i got redwings that i use for work...im at construction sites almost everyday and beat the shit out of these things...mine cost about 160...and are holding up pretty well for the 6 months i have had them...this is my 1st pair of redwings also...i have to say they are holding up pretty well...

Heres the pair I wear everyday for 10 hours in the telecom and construction industry. Super comfortable. they are made by redwings, but it is thier worx brand. it is sold in the redwings stores. I added the custom made insoles for added comfort. absolutely the best boot I've ever owned. Plus the zipper on the inside of the boot makes them super quick on and off.

I work every Friday and Saturday night in these and the ROI was less than (1) month

I'll throw in a vote for Belleville here. I've got a pair of 800 STs that I've worn daily for everything for about a year, and they're not only comfortable, but they've worn really well. The leather is scuffed and abused but hasn't worn out or cracked up.

They are not cheap, but . . . well, they're not cheap, either. The soles are replaceable, so when they wear through, you can pay around $70 and get them retreaded, and get a couple more years out of them.

Oh, BTW, this is an Illinois factory, if that matters to you.

I just bought a pair of Red Wings. Pricey but it feels like I'm wearing slippers compared to my caterpiller boots. They gave me a 30 dollar discount because I'm a government contractor. Thanks for all the advice and recommendations guys.

Doc Marten switched their manufaturer from England to China about a year ago and the quality has gone down a whole lot since then.
Other than that Redwings FTW. Super comfy and they hold up to a lot of abuse.

You'll be happy with them. I was buying cheap boots for like 6 years and they always leaked water in and fell apart after 6 months. My Redwings have always kept my feet warm and dry. Well worth the $200 or so when you have to wear them every day.

Walking in puddles often in the shop? ...or did you wear those babies out at Buffalo? :twofinger

Dude that dump ass shop I work in does have puddles inside! When we get a hard rain my bay turns into a lake from the water leaking under the doors. The place used to be a carwash and some dumbass filled in the drain on my end of the shop where the floor slopes towards. Plus I have to go out there and shovel snow and shit. My boss can't afford someone to take out the trash and shovel snow :rolleyes .

Yeah when I ride my kwad I wear my redwings and no shirt  .

Congrats!

I bought my first set of Red Wings at Daytona in 2001. That's a story all its own.

My dad worked on his feet for over thirty years. He wore Red Wings most of that time that I remember. At some point, I decided the man had some knowledge of something that I needed to recognize.

I was trashing shoes at 6 to 9 months, and I still have those Red Wings. They are beat up, but they are still better now than those other shoes, which I felt were quality shoes.

I know that Red Wing has experiemented with non US made Red Wings under different brand names. I tried them, and I didn't think they held up as well. Those shoes are in the garbage. Again, I still have the set from 2001.

Are you serious? Damn...well at least I have a few pairs that are still wearable.

I got tired of boots only lasting six months before I wore the soles off them and before the six month mark they were no where near waterproof anymore. I broke down back in august and got some red wings. They were 180 some dollars for a pair of insulated totaly waterproof steel toed boots. I love em. They can also be resoled and I have made sure that once a month I clean them off and apply mink oil to them. I don't think I will get any other brand but redwing when I wear these out. I have had Caterpillar and wolverines and and even some cheaper boots but nothing has been holding up as well as the redwings. I haven't even started to chew the sole off them yet and they haven't leaked on me yet while working in water.

I'm with ya on that 100%. I've got at least 6 pair - 4 steel toed, half summer weight half winter weight. Don't know about comfort (military issue :laughing) but they sure last thru some major abuse.

I've actually got 2 pair of desert colored steel toed bellevilles coming in any day, can't wait to break those things in :1pimp

If you wear the sole out on redwings in one year, they replace the boots at no charge. If you need to be resoled alter that, it is $20. And laces are always free, pick uo a few pair incase you break a lace.
