had a good experience at the elmhurst fleet feet today. picked up a pair of saucony's that felt great, looking forward to breaking them in. Wife went ahead and got a new pair of running shoes too, Nike's for her.
Sweet. My first pair of running shoes were Saucony Trigon R's....love 'em, still have them in the closet.

EWWWW... Running, damn.. Umm I say install 4 way flashers on the prilly and tell wife you have volunteered as a course chase safety vehicle, and will supply water and banana's to runners on the route, and just keep eating her good cookies..

EMR Style There is no Running in motorcyclin'..

Went to the Piper's Alley Fleet Feet and got some shoes to start running in. I have to say that it was an awesome experience. I have never witnessed such great customer service in all my life. They answered every question I had and gave me as much info as I could stand.

Been running regularly for a few weeks now, feels great, it's like I'm high for the rest of the day after a run.

Excellent. Pipers Alley Fleet Feet is superb. Glad you liked it. Now break those puppies in for the Pumpkins in the Park run on Saturday October 14, 2006 (posted elsewhere in the H & F forum). It's right next door to you :)

I'll probably do that run, it will be my first.

The only reason I say probably is because I hurt my knee running yesterday, I hope it doesn't become a problem, or take too long to heal. I've never had knee pain issues before so I don't know what to expect.

Cool. Just take it easy on the running. Really ease into it. Don't overdo it...really build up to some longer mileage. I don't know how much you're doing but if you just started recently I wouldn't advise going further than 1 or 3 miles (at most). Honestly, do much shorter runs where you are still fresh....that way the body doesn't get shocked from the activity. It may sound weird to go out and do a 1/2 mile or 1 mile jog/run but if you want to run for the long term...injury prevention or body sustenance is key. A really short run (where you are still relatively fresh) is not going to hold you back. There are 7 days in a week so plan 'em accordingly. Definitely check out www.halhigdon.com for advice and develop a plan leading up to the Pumpkin race. Your body is going to have to adjust to the new glory of running. The pain may not necessarily be bad knees but moreso mal training. People that say they can't run because of there knees ("I've got bad knees") aren't training right. I just don't buy that. If anything, they just need to adjust there training accordingly (if they really do have a medical condition directly tied to the impact associated with running). If someone just starts running and tries to run 5 miles...heck yeah, their knees are going to hurt - mine would too. And then they give up. So, read up at Hal Higdon and come up with a plan and stick with it. But most importanly, have fun :) Glad to see you running and taking care of yourself. You're gonna love it.
