Blows my mind!

I read about this a while back and use it sometimes to change the conversation when I don't want to hear more about other current events. Almost nobody I mentioned it to even believed me that it is possible. Now, I know that they are just applying information right now and that it's a long way off from a usable technology but this thing is HUGE and people are just glancing over it like it's not something they're interested in.

That's because they are afraid to say something stupid because they don't understand it.

The first steps I think, are going to be transporting huge amounts of data, without wires, and probably pretty damn untraceable. If you can toggle a few bits between two points really fast, you have the ultimate in wireless communication.

From there springs transporting molecules, then up and up till they start transferring mice and monkeys.

Crazy stuff. I wonder if we'll really see this in our lifetimes. Probably just after VCOOK dies it will come out, so he'll still have to deal with UPS fucking up his packages.

It would seem to me that there is quite a difference between data and matter. Is it just that some of us who live in a virtual world too many hours in a day see this in a different light?

For all us video game fans, this tech is in Mass Effect 2. This is how the Normandy SR2 comm center works.
